iPad - Why it will Rock

Yes, I watched the Apple event (live via a rogue UStream feed), and I totally get everyone's initial disappointment. And yes, there are a ton of things that the iPad doesn't do; I get it. Really. Remember that this is Apple, they pay attention to details, and what they didn't put into the iPad (camera, multitasking, etc.) speaks just as loudly as what they did put into it. That said, and with one pic, here's why it'll rock:

This is just music. Now think of healthcare, insurance, hospitality, restaurants, EDUCATION... the list goes on. And, the MLB app shown during the presentation is just barely scratching the surface of the new generation of experiences that will be available on the iPad. Finally, a true tablet, but what's more, a platform: a full-sized device with an OS built to intelligently handle multi-touch input, with a purpose-built, (based on reports) super-fast processor, and full connectivity. Is it everything I had hoped it would be? No. Will I be buying one? Well, my Kindle DX is for sale on eBay. Just sayin'.

Update 2/1/10: My Kindle DX has been sold.

Update 2/7/10: iPads already popular with physicians

Guilty as charged.

In reference to Just An Online Minute... OMMA Magazine Toasts 2009 Agency Of The Year Winners,??while I am totally guilty of photobombing - http://bit.ly/5lh4NP - I??only had 4-5 cocktail wieners, well within established and acceptable weenie limits. I'm going. Come along if you like.

via Seth Godin:

One of the most common things I hear is, ???I???d like to do something remarkable like that, but my xyz won???t let me.??? Where xyz = my boss, my publisher, my partner, my licensor, my franchisor, etc.

Well, you can fail by going along with that and not doing it, or you can do it, cause a ruckus and work things out later.

In my experience, once it???s clear you???re willing (not just willing, but itching, moving, and yes, implementing) without them, things start to happen. People are rarely willing to step up and stop you, and often just waiting to follow someone crazy enough to actually do something.

I???m going. Come along if you like.
