BMW Bike vs. BMW Bobsled Stunt
Carbon???s Domino Clock
I love timepieces. I'm especially fond of watches, but I'm really into seeing how designers come up with unique ways of redefining how we see time.

WANT: Spiral Watch
Even though I've stopped wearing watches - because I work on a laptop, and the strap buckles and clasps are constantly clanking, catching, and rubbing on it, and I've yet to find an acceptable alternative - I still love them, and I'm always on the lookout for a beautifully designed watch.
The hour hand slowly disappears as the time reaches 12, and then reappears. Nice.

My Fav Reminder App: Due for iPhone
Due for iOS is the reminder app I've been looking for since I started using my iPhone on June 29, 2007. Super simple to set up reminders, well-designed, and very annoying... in a good way.
An unsolicited 'Highly recommend!'

Movember - Donate to me!
This Movember I've decided to donate my face to raising awareness about cancers that affect men. My commitment is the growth of a moustache for the entire month of Movember, which I know will generate conversation, controversy and laughter.
I'm doing this because: - 1 in 2 men will be diagnosed with cancer in his lifetime - 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime This is a cause that I feel passionately about and I'm asking you to support my efforts by making a donation to support the great work of the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG. To help, you can either: - Click this link http://us.movember.com/mospace/891076/ and donate online using your credit card or PayPal account- Write a check payable to Movember, referencing my name or Registration Number 891076 and mailing it to: Movember, PO Box 2726, Venice, CA 90294-2726 The money raised will help make a tangible difference to the lives of others, through the world's most promising prostate cancer research and LIVESTRONG's programs that support young adults and their families battling and surviving cancer. For more details on how the funds raised from previous campaigns have been used and the impact Movember is having please visit http://us.movemberfoundation.com/research-and-programs/
Thank you!

707, 717, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777
From the site:
"Amid all the 787 roll-out hoopla, perhaps the coolest event went unnoticed. On Saturday night, Boeing had all of the 787 airline representatives at an event at the Museum of Flight. At 7:07 PM, an Omega Air Refueling Services 707 landed in front of the crowd (after taking off from Paine Field in Everrett). At 7:17, an AirTran 717 landed. This continued until 8:17 when an Air France 777-300ER landed. In the end, the 717, 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, and 777 were lined up nose-to-tail on the taxiway. It is the first time Boeing has had every 7-series airplane in the same place (not counting the 787, which couldn't make the flight, of course). - Picture provided by The Boeing Company"

YouTube HTML5 Trial Opt-in
YouTube HTML5 Video Player
This is an opt-in trial of HTML5 video on YouTube. If you are using a supported browser, you can choose to use the HTML5 player instead of the Flash player for most videos. Your comments will help us improve and perfect the mixtures we're working on. So jump in, play around, and send your feedback directly to the brains behind the scenes.
Supported Browsers
We support browsers that support both the video tag in HTML5 and either the h.264 video codec or the WebM format (with VP8 codec). These include:
- Firefox 4 (WebM, Beta available here)
- Google Chrome (h.264 supported now, WebM enabled version available via Early Release Channel)
- Opera 10.6+ (WebM, Available here)
- Apple Safari (h.264, version 4+)
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 (h.264, Beta available here)
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6, 7, or 8 with Google Chrome Frame installed (Get Google Chrome Frame)
Notes
- Fullscreen support is partially implemented. Pressing the fullscreen button will expand the player to fill your browser. If your browser supports a fullscreen option, you can then use that to truly fill the screen
- The HTML5 player has a badge in the control bar. If you don't see the "HTML5" icon in the control bar, you've been directed to the Flash player (due to restrictions listed below)
- The HTML5 player also has a badge to indicate the video is using the WebM format. If you don't see the "WebM" icon, the video is encoded using h.264
- If you want to find videos with WebM formats available, you can use the Advanced Search options to look for them (or just add &webm=1 to any search URL)
Additional Restrictions (we are working on these!)
- Videos with ads are not supported (they will play in the Flash player)
- On Firefox and Opera, only videos with WebM transcodes will play in HTML5
- If you've opted in to other testtube experiments, you may not get the HTML5 player (Feather is supported, though)
You are currently in the HTML5 trial.
Disable "Additional plugins..." alert in Firefox
- Typing 'about:config' in the address bar
- Accepted the warning message
- Filtered for 'plugin.default_plugin_disabled'
- Set the value to 'false'

What???s the #1 most crazy idea Steve Ballmer has ever heard?
The only thing that could possibly make this video better is if Ballmer was in New Jersey while he was prognosticating.

YouTube HTML5 Embed Code
I'm trying to have a Flash-less web experience, so I'm putting my tumblog where my mouth is, and I'm not going to post Flash-based media to http://byteengine.net starting from this post forward. It's an experiment; we'll see how it goes.
I embed a lot of YouTube videos, and in order to adhere to my rule, I need use their HTML5 player. So, I'm sharing. Here's the HTML5 embed code for YouTube:
Hope this helps someone.
